28 September 2023, Geneva, Switzerland - SURGhub is an initiative led by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) in partnership with the Global Surgery Foundation (GSF) and with a content curation process led by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). It provides a central UN-based platform for high-quality, context and curriculum-appropriate learning content in global surgery. In doing so, SURGhub aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of the current and future global surgical care workforce. 

With the new mobile app, users will now be able to learn directly on their phones, wherever and whenever they want. The app allows the download of learning materials which is specifically beneficial to learners with low internet bandwidth. It is now possible to download course materials, such as videos, on WIFI and access them at a later stage without incurring high mobile network charges.
