Strengthening Collaboration amongst CIFAL Centres from Asia-Pacific

9-10 August 2018, Newcastle, Australia – UNITAR’s affiliated International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Newcastle (CIFAL Newcastle) convened a regional meeting with CIFAL Centres from Asia-Pacific. Directors from CIFAL Newcastle Dr. Graham Brewer, CIFAL Jeju Amb. Young-sam Ma, CIFAL Philippines Dr. Edna Co and CIFAL Shanghai Mr. Genxiang Wang gathered in Newcastle, Australia to identify synergies, foster collaboration and jointly expand their outreach in the region.

This is the second regional meeting that takes place in an effort to strengthen cooperation among training centers in the Asia-Pacific region and promote joint projects. During the meeting potential joint activities delivered by CIFALs were discussed.  At the end of the meeting, a “Declaration” to strengthen collaboration amongst CIFAL Centres from Asia-Pacific was signed, reiterating the commitment from each CIFAL.

The joint activities discussed during the meeting included joint courses and bilateral projects among CIFAL centres located in Asia-Pacific, as well as the development of a student internship exchange programme among the CIFAL centres in the region.
