CIFAL Shanghai organizes XVI Smart City Public Lecture

CIFAL Shanghai organizes XVI Smart City Public Lecture13 July 2015, Shanghai, China – CIFAL Shanghai hosted the 16th Smart City Public Lecture: “Smart Education: Status Quo and the Future”, in partnership with Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization and Shanghai Association of Sciences and Technology. The event, held on 1 July 2015, brought together 47 participants from academia, public and private sectors, government, and others.

The objective of this lecture was to raise awareness on how through smart education global education resources can be shared and integrated seamlessly, information technology and discipline can be deeply integrated and education can become ubiquitous, open and on demand.

Mr. WANG Zhengming, director of Information Center of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, presented in his speech “Smart Education: Status Quo and the Future” the history, the present situation and the future of smart education. Based on the Smart Education concept proposed by IBM, Mr. WANG analyzed the development of smart education in China and abroad, pointing out that mobilization and clouding is the trend of development.

Mr. WANG further emphasized the significance of smart education in the transformation of education, study and evaluation. The lecture concluded with an open discussion on topics such as how does IT support education, how does IT support the personalization of education, and how demand is affecting smart study.

The monthly Smart City Public Lecture Series, launched in October 2013, is open to the public. Each lecture addresses different key topics related to smart city development
