UNITAR

15 October 2025, Beirut, Lebanon - The International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Lebanon (CIFAL Lebanon), an affiliated training centre of UNITAR, is pleased to present a workshop titled Strengthening Project Impact through Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL)” on 29-31 October 2025.

This workshop offers a practical introduction to Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) systems within the context of development and humanitarian programming. MEAL represents the foundation of effective, results-driven project management. When properly integrated, it enables organizations to measure performance, draw lessons from data, and ensure transparency toward donors, partners, and communities.

A well-structured MEAL framework enables organizations to measure performance, ensure transparency to stakeholders, and foster adaptive learning across the project cycle. As donors’ expectations for evidence-based reporting and measurable outcomes continue to grow, the ability to design, implement, and refine MEAL processes has become an essential competency for organizations.

In this context, CIFAL Lebanon has developed this 3-day workshop in which participants will gain a foundational understanding of MEAL systems, covering the entire process from planning and data collection to analysis, reporting, and adaptive learning. The course draws on global standards, field-tested models, and practical tools to help participants strengthen project effectiveness and accountability.  This initiative is designed for MEAL officers and programme staff, as well as professionals working in the development and humanitarian sectors. It also targets strategic decision-makers and policy leads, independent consultants, and academic researchers. Early- to mid-career monitoring and evaluation practitioners, as well as representatives from local NGOs, INGOs, and implementing partners, will also benefit. In addition, the programme engages global and regional development stakeholders committed to advancing effective and evidence-based practices.
