UN Immersion Programme
Building on the success of our global UN Immersion Programmes in Geneva, New York, Nairobi, Vienna, and The Hague, UNITAR is proud to launch a new edition in Dubai, UAE – a nexus of humanitarian logistics, innovation, and multilateral diplomacy.
UNITAR will host most of the activities in the Dubai Humanitarian City now known as Dubai Humanitarian, is home to a diverse community of approximately 80 members, including UN agencies, international NGOs, and commercial companies.
They will consist of a nuanced balance between the following elements:
- Expert lectures
- Training workshops
- Multilateral conferences
- Private guided tours
- Career development sessions
The purpose is to equip participants with knowledge and skills into global humanitarian responses and innovation. Participants will gain access to key international agencies, visit world-class institutions, and engage in immersive training sessions.

The UN Dubai Immersion Programme is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive overview of the United Nations system, with a focus on humanitarian affairs and innovation. The programme aims to build a strong foundational understanding of key UN themes, develop core diplomatic and negotiation skills, and facilitate engagement with leading international and regional actors.
As part of the programme, participants are expected to take part in activities and briefings involving the following Dubai-based agencies and institutions. Please note that participation with these entities is dependent on final confirmation and institutional availability:
- Dubai Humanitarian City (DHC)
- United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)
- United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA)
- World Food Programme (WFP)
- International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)
- Dubai Future Foundation (DFF)
Paticipants
The Immersion Programme is open to everyone with a deep interest in the United Nations. Participants can come from the public or private sector, NGOs, think tanks and academia. University students and participants from an entirely different background are equally welcome to apply.
In order to ensure the highest quality standards, a maximum of 30 participants per field visit will be allowed. Slots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. At the end of the programmes, participants will receive a UNITAR certificate of completion.

The UN Dubai Immersion Programme serves to provide an overview of the United Nations. It will help participants to explore how Dubai serves as a unique ecosystem for global humanitarian responses and innovation.
At the end of the Immersion Programme, participants should be able to
- Understand the operations of UN and humanitarian agencies in Dubai.
- Apply skills in diplomacy and global governance.
- Analyze global issues through cross-cultural dialogue.
- Evaluate sustainable living solutions at Masdar City.
- Explore Dubai’s role in business and innovation.
Registration
In order to register, kindly click on the below link to bring you on the specific event page. Once there, kindly follow the below steps:
- On the event page, click on "registration". The programme will the be added to your shopping cart.
- Click on the "check out" button.
- Create your own profile on the UNITAR event page and fill out the required sections.
- Review the correctness of all information and choose your preferred payment method: (i) credit card or (ii) bank transfer
- If you choose credit card, your payment is definite and is completed immediately on the spot
- If you choose to pay by bank transfer, your payment is not definite yet and could be delayed to a later point in time
- In either of both choices, click on complete payment. A UNITAR colleague will follow up with you via email thereafter
