26 November 2025, Hiroshima, Japan – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) held a public workshop, “Building Peace, Block by Block, Minecraft and Hiroshima” in Hiroshima City. This is part of the training programme, “UNITAR SDGs and Digital Futures: Changemaking Through AI/Digital Storytelling.” In addition to showcasing outstanding digital stories created by training participants, young people in Hiroshima joined to explore the city’s journey of reconstruction and the importance of peace through the use of digital tools.
25 November 2025, New York, USA — In November 2025, UNITAR, in partnership with Columbia Law School’s Mediation Clinic, delivered a three-part Columbia Mediation Training Series at the United Nations Headquarters, designed to strengthen the conflict-resolution capacities of diplomats and UN staff. Led by Professor Alexandra Carter, Clinical Professor of Law and Director of the Mediation Clinic, the series provided structured, practice-oriented training at the intersection of mental health, political polarization, and gender equity in mediation and peacebuilding

Joined the international observance of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, a United Nations initiative aimed at raising awareness, strengthening prevention efforts, and eliminating all forms of gender-based violence.
25 November 2025, Geneva, Switzerland – As e-commerce expands, the food delivery sector is also expanding globally. The Boston Consulting Group estimates that e-commerce will account for 41 percent of global retail sales by 2027, a significant increase from the 18 percent in 2017. The adoption of e-commerce as a business model extends to various sectors, including food providers and restaurants. This trend has resulted in companies employing local motorcycle riders to deliver food and parcels, leading to the emergence of a new job opportunities, predominantly as delivery riders. This shift has also been accompanied by a growing number of motorcycle riders on the road and traffic crashes involving food delivery and non-food delivery motorcycle drivers.
21 November 2025, Praia, Cabo Verde - UNOSAT’s satellite analysis played a crucial role after the August 2025 storms in Cabo Verde, providing the only comprehensive overview of floods, landslides, and infrastructure damage when ground access was limited. The data guided emergency response, supported operational decisions, and fed directly into the Government’s USD 42.6 million national recovery and resilience plan. This close collaboration with national authorities and UN partners demonstrated the cost-effectiveness and essential value of geospatial information across the entire disaster management cycle.
