Disaster Risk Reduction in Southeast Asia
In Southeast Asia, through our partnership with the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC) and the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), our project activities are focused on increasing the capacity of governments and regional actors for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).We also support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals through the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) applications.
A blend of collaborative training and in-country capacity building programmes form the basis of the project activities.
We have delivered 8 regional technical training courses in Thailand and 7 successful in-country trainings in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam benefiting more than 250 GIS professionals in the region.
