Empowering women and youth through digital upskilling and reskilling

>

The technology is rapidly pushing the frontiers of what can be done in all spheres of life, all around the world. Frontier technologies herald great hopes for humanity, opening up possibilities to improve the lives of many. Yet, the digital divide remains a reality and the ethical uses of new technologies such as generative artificial intelligence (AI) must be addressed to ensure that everyone can benefit from such technologies.

UNITAR re/re-skills women and youth in digital technologies. Through our programmes, women and youth learn the skill sets needed to engage with the “4th Industrial Revolution” (4IR), get or create jobs, and overcome gender and education gaps.

The UNITAR programme taught me that digital innovation encompasses more than technology. It focuses on developing sustainable solutions that benefit communities.

—Emmanuel Mutabazi, alumnus from the "Developing Essential Digital Skills for Women and Youth in Africa" programme, founder of a digital training foundation and digital skills advocate, Rwanda
