UNITAR contributes to international and regional efforts aimed at building sustainable peace in the Sahel region, by strengthening the preparation of members (male and female) of the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) in the areas of International Humanitarian Law, Human Rights Law and Protection of Civilians. This initiative also contributes to the protection of Malian citizens, by providing the personnel of FAMa with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours necessary to effectively apply International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Law provisions to the planning, commanding and execution of military and combat operations.
