22 to 23 August 2011, Victoria, Mahé, Seychelles - The implementation of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) was identified by Seychelles as a priority issue in its Capacity Assessment.
Given the low level of knowledge on GHS in the country, UNITAR was invited to facilitate a workshop on this issue. The e-Learning course on “Negotiating for Conflict and Dispute Resolution”, which was mentored by senior negotiation expert Dr. El Hadji A. Diouf, had 31 participants from all five continents. The diversity of participants rendered very lively and insightful discussions about various key aspects of negotiation and dispute resolution such as how to manage conflict, the differences between positional and interest-based negotiation, and the importance of actively listening to the other party.

12 September 2011 – UNITAR has initiated training workshops for Capacity Building on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) in four ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand) and the People’s Republic of China. The training is part of the project “Strengthening National and Regional Capacities to Implement the GHS in ASEAN – Phase II”, funded by the European Union.
