国連ユニタール広島事務所/持続可能な繁栄局と国連ユニタール協会が実施する青少年大使プログラムは、次代の国際社会を担う若者を育成しようと、広島県内の高校生に世界の今にふれる機会を提供している。今年度は新型コロナの影響でオンラインでの開催となり、選ばれた大使24人の1人が大村さんだ。
大村さんを応募に導いたのも、新型コロナだった。休校に続き、学校のプログラムで夏に予定されていた短期留学も中止に。何かしたいと思っていた時、先生の紹介で募集を知った。
7月から3カ月間、各界の専門家を招いたウェビナーやアプリで学びを深め、イラクの研修生とオンラインで交流するなど忙しい日々を送った。グループに分かれ、それぞれ選んだSDGsの目標について研究発表もした。, 選んだゴールは16・平和と公正をすべての人に。大村さんが「平和」を意識するルーツは2つある。幼い頃から習っているフラダンスを通じて学んだ平和と寛容の心。そして、被爆地広島での豊かな平和教育と、直に聞いた被爆者の強い訴えだ。

The e-Learning course on “Negotiating for Conflict and Dispute Resolution”, which was mentored by senior negotiation expert Dr. El Hadji A. Diouf, had 31 participants from all five continents. The diversity of participants rendered very lively and insightful discussions about various key aspects of negotiation and dispute resolution such as how to manage conflict, the differences between positional and interest-based negotiation, and the importance of actively listening to the other party.

The recent floods in Vietnam have cause massive destructions and provoked a humanitarian situation in extensive areas in the country. The Province of Quang Tri has been particularly affected. The UNOSAT team has already posted on 1 October a first satellite derived map of flood affected areas which is used by national authorities and international relief entities to organize and coordinate relief efforts.
