May 2011, Geneva, Switzerland - The authorities of some of the Colombian departments affected by recent floods reported that this year’s flooding is worse than last year’s, with a death toll likely to rise above 500 while as many are still unaccounted for. The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) implemented a seminar for diplomats on United Nations Operational Activities for Development at United Nations Headquarters, New York. UNITAR organized this seminar in response to General Assembly resolution 64/289 on System-Wide Coherence which requested such a course.
