Crowd4SDG is a research project promoting citizen science initiatives with a focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 2021年6月10日・広島 ― 新型コロナウイルスの危機は、これまで世界が進めてきた持続可能な開発目標(SDGs)への歩みを妨げ、後戻りさせている。いまだ、パンデミックによる影響の全容は把握しきれていない。一方で、私たちが望む世界を2030年までに実現させるために、どのような行動を起こしていくのか、自身に問いかける機会も与えてくれていると言える。
上智大学のオンラインシンポジウム「コロナ禍のSDGsへのインパクトと今後の展望」での基調講演で、国連事務次長補兼国連ユニタール総代表ニキル・セスはこのように語りました。
上智大学大学院の植木安弘教授がモデレーターを務めたパネルディスカッションでは、国連開発計画（UNDP）インド常駐代表の野田章子氏やUNDP駐日代表の近藤哲生氏を交えて議論。学生など247人がオンラインで聴講しました。
セス総代表は、SDGsの17項目すべてについて、新型コロナウイルスによる現時点での影響を解説。貧困、気候変動、国際協力など多岐にわたる目標のすべてがパンデミックの打撃を受けており、世界中で格差が拡大している現状を伝えました。コロナ禍で約１憶3,200万人もの人々が慢性的な食糧不足に苦しみ、2014年以降徐々に増え始めた飢餓人口の増加に拍車をかけています。
