The Local Development Programme (LDP) is launching a new session of its proven e-learning course Governance in Urban Sanitation, to be conducted from 12 April to 18 June 2010 (10 weeks). The course aims at enhancing the capacity of local decision-makers and sanitation professionals to make the most enlightened decisions and investments in the area of urban sanitation by providing analytical tools to understand the financial and institutional framework of the sector, taking into account the needs of urban poor communities.

26 January 2017, Madrid, Spain - Mr. Nikhil Seth, the Executive Director of UNITAR, had a long interview with El Pais, a leading newspaper in Spain, while he was on mission to the country. Mr. Seth talked about the importance of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, for all UN Member States, how each Goals are interrelated, and how UNITAR can help in implementing the Agenda.

UNITAR Executive Director, Mr. Carlos Lopes held a high-level meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, whose visit was marked by efforts to reinvigorate activities of the Conference on Disarmament (SG’s address) and the launch of the new Global Compact initiative, “LEAD”, a platform for corporate sustainability leadership, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s 2011 annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
