3 March 2021, Geneva, Switzerland - We are all ambassadors of the SDGs. During office hours, we interact, negotiate, and network with colleagues, partners, beneficiaries, and donors. Outside the office, we continue to represent the United Nations and what it stands for—namely, the achievement of the SDGs.

At the centre of all activities, be it in our professional or personal lives, lies the human touch: the ability to connect, empathise, and share with all people. The capacity to make any individual from any given cultural or religious background feel welcome, feel heard, and feel entertained, is quintessential in building lasting relationships from which new partnerships sprout, conflicts are de-escalated, and constructive dialogue is engaged.

Recognising the central role that the art of International Hospitality in the public servant’s daily life, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research has developed an innovating 6-day training programme, giving a special focus on the core aspects of what it means to be a beacon of diplomacy in an international social context. Taught by some of the world’s leading experts in international table etiquette, intercultural deciphering, and wine economics, the training programme, held between March 30 and April 6, aims to provide its participants with a lasting skillset to apply charismatic leadership in any interaction they have. Equipped with the ability to adhere to cultural norms in any formal or informal setting, participants will truly be able to personify the UN and its agenda to promote the SDGs.

Previous editions have gathered government officials, VIP client managers, event organisers, and academicians alike. UNITAR wishes to welcome any and all interested persons who aim to develop their intercultural networking skills and social abilities.
