The content of the workshop was designed to meet particular challenges faced by a newly- elected member of the Security Council. As such, the workshop was organized in response to a specific request by the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa for training in that area. “Being a Council member, official statements have to be prepared and delivered by our delegation on a daily basis.

New York, USA.  The Government of Malaysia is the first to contribute to the newly established Fellowship Fund created by the main training vehicle of the UN, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).   A symbolic and timely gesture, in support of South-South cooperation, this contribution will ensure access of diplomats from least developed and developing countries to Core Diplomatic Training courses (CDT).

“Reduce the fear of migration by 50% until 2015”. Could this be a migration related Millennium Development Goal (MDG)?  While it seems rather unlikely that the international community will agree on international targets when it comes to migration in the near future, it is clear that human mobility and the achievement of the MDGs are related.
