UNITAR's Strides Towards Gender Equality in Learning Design

In honour of International Women's Day, UNITAR's Learning Solutions team is proud to share some of our offerings that embody our commitment to women's empowerment and gender equality and that help to foster gender mainstreaming within UNITAR and beyond.

UNITAR

Our "Gender Mainstreaming in the Training Cycle" guide stands at the forefront of our efforts towards women empowerment and gender equality. This comprehensive framework assists learning designers, trainers, and project managers in embedding a gender lens throughout all project phases, ensuring that capacity-building initiatives are impactful and inclusive.

If learning designers and project managers do not consider gender at all phases of their learning projects, they risk exacerbating inequalities and reinforcing harmful stereotypes.

Our learning solutions incorporate gender and inclusivity considerations throughout the training cycle as an essential element of our approach. From project conceptualization to evaluation, we provide a roadmap for creating learning solutions that address gender disparities and promote equality.

Gender & Inclusivity eLearning Module

Within our flagship "Training of Trainers" eLearning course, our "Gender & Inclusivity" module takes a step further by engaging learners with interactive content that underlines the importance of inclusivity.  Addressing the five lenses of inclusivity – Power dynamics, Access, Participation, Dignity, and Impact & Do No Harm – this module ensures that learning environments are equitable and accessible to all.

By integrating an intersectional approach to gender equality, we enable trainers to understand and respect the diverse experiences of women, enhancing the effectiveness and reach of their training programmes.

Promoting Women’s Empowerment through Open Access

By making these practice resources and services publicly available, we support the adoption of women’s empowerment standards within UNITAR and share best practices with our partners and the wider community.

As we commemorate International Women's Day, let us all pledge to integrate these principles into our work. Together, we can build a future where gender equality is not just an aspiration but a reality
