“Leadership is the ability to influence others and motivate individuals, groups and teams toward a common goal.”

Since 1963, UNITAR has provided young and professional diplomats who act as leaders from all over the world with the skills and knowledge to lead and make an impact.

There are an estimated 1.8 million people today between the ages of 10 and 24, which is the largest generation of youth in human history. Connected to each other like never before, young people increasingly contribute to innovative solutions, driving social progress and inspiring political initiatives.

The Multilateral Diplomacy Programme Unit at UNITAR has developed The United Nations Young Leaders Online Training Programme, specifically designed for global youth, junior professionals, and senior officials who are young at heart and are agents of change, mobilizing to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to improve the lives of people and the health of the planet.

As climate change is arguably one of - if not the most - critical issues of our time, UNITAR looks forward to welcoming the next generation of young leaders into the programme. It is they who will be at the forefront of helping to drive international cooperation and diplomacy, and innovative solutions to encourage global action on climate change.
