Explore the Indigenous Issues Training Series, a comprehensive program delving into various facets related to the rights, contributions, and perspectives of Indigenous Peoples. This series introduces the institutional and normative framework established by the United Nations for recognizing and addressing Indigenous Peoples' rights. Participants will delve into the integration of Indigenous Rights within the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing contributions to the Summit of the Future. The training explores how Indigenous Peoples uniquely address environmental crises, emphasizing sustainability and recognizing Mother Earth as a living being with rights. Gain insights into Indigenous contributions to reenvisioning peace and peacebuilding, illustrated through specific case studies such as Colombia. Event objectives

In the wake of the 2014 World Conference on Indigenous Peoples, both governments and the UN system have acknowledged the pivotal contributions of Indigenous Peoples to global governance and multilateral processes. This course serves as a pivotal tool in our collective effort to mainstream and embed Indigenous Peoples' perspectives into key world issues discussed across various UN fora.

The workshop will be held in a HYBRID format at the UNHQ from 10AM-1PM EST (EXCEPT 29 FEB, 3PM-6PM ESTevery TUESDAY and THURSDAY from 20 FEBRUARY - 5 MARCH 2024.
