UNITAR

Established in 2022, the International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in London (CIFAL City of London)  is hosted by MLA College in London, United Kingdom. The centre provides a range of learning opportunities, exchange best practices, support the improvement of decision-making and leadership in the maritime sector to promote sustainability.

Scope: Europe and maritime sector.

Prof. John Chudley

Prof. John Chudley

Professor John Chudley began honing his skills as a Mechanical Engineering apprentice before progressing to higher education completing a PhD in Marine Technology.

He has held various positions in academia, including Provost of Warsash Maritime Academy, Executive Dean of the Marine and Technology Faculty at Southampton Solent University and Head of the Institute of Marine Studies and Mechanical and Marine Engineering Departments at the University of Plymouth. He also acted as Director of Research and Innovation for the University of Plymouth. He remains a Visiting Professor to both Plymouth and Solent.

Prof. Chudley has also been employed with the Civil Service, positions include being a Director of the Learning and Skills Council and the National Apprenticeship Service. Having experience and a strong belief in the benefits and opportunities vocational education brings to young people he was passionate in his role and was instrumental in the development of Higher/Degree Apprenticeships.

Prof. Chudley has also acted as a Director and Board Member to a number of companies and organisations. At present he is a Council Member of the RNLI and a Board Member and Chair of the Engineering Council. As the regulatory body for the UK engineering profession, the Engineering Council sets and maintains internationally recognised standards of professional competence and commitment.
