10 July 2019, New York City, United States – United Nations Institute for Training and Research New York Office (UNITAR NYO) has held a morning briefing session with 15 delegates from the Egyptian Diplomatic Institute visiting New York during the High-Level Political Forum. The session was held in the conference room F in the United Nations headquarter between the head of office of UNITAR, H.E. Mr. Marco Suazo and Dr. Sameh Aboul-Enein, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Director of the Egyptian Institute for Diplomatic Studies.
4 July 2019, Geneva, Switzerland - On the 10th and 11th of June 2019, the Division for Multilateral Diplomacy (DMD) of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research successfully hosted a Workshop on Digital Diplomacy, which marked the last workshop in its series of Core Diplomatic Trainings for the 4th Edition of the Executive Diploma in Diplomatic Practice. 19 participants were in attendance including diplomats, international development specialists, entrepreneurs and professionals from the private sector.
In the summer of 2019, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research New York Office (UNITAR NYO), International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA), and United Nations Trust Facility Supporting Cooperation on Arms Regulation (UNSCAR) collaboratively published a “Quick Guide” to understanding the United Nations Secretary-General’s agenda for disarmament. In May 2018, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres published an 87-page disarmament agenda called “Securing Our Common Future: An Agenda for Disarmament,” in which he calls for a new method of disarmament to bring about global peace and security.
27 June 2019, New York, USA - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR NYO) hosted a full-day Speech Writing Seminar with Professor Daniel Benaim. Daniel Benaim is a senior fellow at American Progress, researching U.S. policy in the Middle East, as well as a visiting lecturer at New York University.
25-26 June 2019, New York, USA - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research's (UNITAR) New York Office organized a two-day event, “Workshop on the Structure, Drafting, and Adoption of the United Nations Resolutions” on 25-26 June 2019 in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of Sweden programme “levelling the playing field” to the United Nations. The seminar was attended by approximately 30 delegates from Permanent Missions to the United Nations. Mr. Marco A. Suazo, representing UNITAR’s New York Office, presented the seminar and briefed the event’s theme of UN resolutions and presented the panelists.

This event was conducted in the format of workshop in collaboration with the Time Ranger Inc. – a multinational firm dedicated to incubating and supporting programmes related to arts and music.
7 April 2019, New York, United States - Following the Report of the Secretary-General (E.2019/81), the United Nations Institute of Training and Research (UNITAR) Headquarters and the New York office started preparations for delivering the report to the United Nations Member States, and consultations in order to produce the legislative response from the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations Member States.
10 June 2019, New York, USA - UNITAR office in New York, in coordination with The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) organized a four day retreat training on Results Based Management (RBM) and Strategic Framework in the context of United Nations Reform for the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) staff from headquarters and country teams.

This summer, UNITAR is delighted to deliver two 5-day field visits to Geneva. These will offer participants the chance to fully immerse themselves into the international hub of diplomacy and thereby gain first-hand experience of the United Nations.
