At the Shanghai World Expo 2010, the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and Google[1] are organising an event entitled “Humanitarian Mapping Applications of Google Map Maker Data”. Several interactive, informational sessions will be held in the UN Pavilion at the World Expo on Friday, 24 & Saturday, 25 September 2010 from 10:00 to 13:00.

The University of Copenhagen’s Master Course on Disaster Management has the aim to provide national and international aid workers, government officials and other professionals interested in any or all parts of Disaster Management with a solid and holistic interdisciplinary background so that they can respect and understand the complex context of acting and working before, during and after a disaster.

UNITAR, OECD and Egypt gather key development partners at UN MDG Summit to spur action and share best practice on “smart” partnerships for development

UNITAR and UNDP have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate on a number of areas including executive training on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to strengthen the capacity of decision-makers in Least Developed Countries.

UNITAR has partnered with OECD and the government of Egypt to lead the debate on the potential of smart and innovative partnerships under MDG8 to accelerate overall progress on MDGs to meet the 2015 deadline. While Heads of State will gather for the first day of the MDG+10 Summit at the UN Headquarters in New York, the side-event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the UN premises in Conference Room 5.
