This significant event was organized in collaboration with the recently established CIFAL Dominican Republic and with the support of the Permanent Mission of the Dominican Republic to the United Nations in Geneva, reinforcing a joint commitment to capacity-building and sustainable governance.

Developed with EU and Swiss Confederation support, by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, with 18 pan-European universities and industry partners, RES4CITY provides micro-credentials on key topics, including renewable energy, sustainable finance, and smart urban solutions, tailored for students, professionals, and policymakers.

7 February 2025, Geneva, Switzerland – The 10th edition of the Geneva Interfaith Dialogue took place at Palais des Nations in Geneva under the theme “The Role of Interfaith Dialogue in Strengthening Cultural Diplomacy.” This year’s event was co-hosted by UNITAR and the Permanent Mission of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the United Nations, aligning with the celebrations of World Interfaith Harmony Week. Over 80 diplomats, religious leaders, and representatives from diverse cultural and faith backgrounds gathered to engage in meaningful discussions about the vital role of interfaith dialogue in promoting global peace and cooperation.

28 January 2025, Port Harcourt, Nigeria – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), in partnership with Rivers State University, has officially launched CIFAL Nigeria, a new addition to the CIFAL Global Network. The Centre is dedicated to capacity-building for public servants, policymakers, and leaders, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to drive sustainable development in Rivers State, Nigeria, and beyond.

19 December 2024, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – UNITAR successfully concluded the XXI Annual Steering Committee of the CIFAL Global Network, which took place from 10th to 12th December 2024 in Al Majmaah and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Co organized by CIFAL Saudi Arabia and Majmaah University, the event brought together representatives from over 30 countries to review the network’s achievements in 2024 and outline priorities for 2025.

11 December 2024, Geneva, Switwerland - The Global Surgery Foundation and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) are pleased to announce the launch of "Navigating the Global Surgery Ecosystem", an educational series hosted on SURGhub. This series is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the essential skills and knowledge to engage effectively in the complex and evolving global surgery landscape. By addressing the unique challenges of low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), the series empowers participants to drive meaningful, lasting change in their local and global communities.

26 November 2024, Guildford, Surrey, United Kingdom – In partnership with the University of Surrey, UNITAR has launched CIFAL Surrey, the newest addition to the CIFAL Global Network. Hosted by the University of Surrey's Institute for Sustainability, CIFAL Surrey will focus on key areas such as Urban Governance and Planning, Economic Development, Social Inclusion, and Environmental Sustainability. 4 December 2024, Geneva, Switzerland – Jointly with the International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in York (CIFAL York), UNITAR succesfully conclude the learning webinar series “Supporting Breastfeeding in the Community, offering a rich platform for learning, discussion, and collaboration among global breastfeeding advocates and practitioners. This free, online series brought together leading experts to address critical topics such as interpreting feeding cues, managing mastitis, understanding challenges faced by vulnerable populations, and exploring the United Nations' work to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through breastfeeding promotion.
