19 May 2022, Geneva, Switzerland - Effective communication is fundamental to successful diplomacy, specifically in times of crisis marked by high levels of uncertainty. Delivering one’s message is key to work together efficiently and to overcome challenges at both the individual and organizational levels.
With this in mind, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the Conflux Center for Intercultural Mediation and Dialogue have designed and developed the innovative virtual course on “Speechwriting and Public Speaking Skills for Multilateral Diplomacy: Cases & Insights from the United Nations”.
This online course is designed for mid- to senior level staff in peacekeeping and political missions of the UN and regional organizations (AU, OSCE, EU, etc.), national diplomats, government officials, non-governmental organizations, and academic institutions.
This virtual course will guide the participants to make the content of their speeches more pertinent and engaging, in addition to helping them deliver their message with spontaneity and confidence. The material draws from the latest techniques in the art of speechwriting, rhetoric and persuasion. Supported by experienced instructors, participants will learn to identify areas of improvement to hone their oration skills.
Training will consist of lectures, simulation exercises, and case studies facilitated by senior mentors Ambassador Amr Aljowaily and Ambassador Miloš Strugar.
At the end of the programme, successful participants will receive a Certificate of Participation from both UNITAR and the Conflux Center.
