• UNITAR Division for Prosperity will host a workshop and a panel discussion on AI-driven sustainable solutions for global challenges (4 September 2024, Geneva).
  • In the morning workshop, participants will engage in hands-on exercises and group discussions to navigate ethical considerations of AI use and explore best practices from health care, education, agriculture, and climate action.
  • In the afternoon, two panels will be led by the members of UNITAR Division for Prosperity Advisory Board and explore the role of AI in strengthening societal resilience and in the prevention of financial crime.
  • Both sessions will be in English and are free of charge. Attendees must register by 2 September 2024, 12 p.m. CEST (UTC +2).

28 August 2024, Geneva – The United Nations Institute for Training and Institute (UNITAR) will host a workshop and a panel discussion “AI Driven Sustainable Solutions – Pioneering Innovations to Overcome Global Challenges” on 4 September 2024 at UNITAR headquarters (World Meteorological Organization (WMO) building, A Floor, Salle D) in Geneva. Through an interactive workshop and a panel discussion, the event will explore the potential of responsible AI use for sustainable development.

  • Prior registration is required for both workshop and panel discussion and attendees may register for one or both sessions. The deadline for registration is 2 September 2024, 12 p.m. CEST (UTC +2); however, registration may close early when the seats are filled. The event will be in English, free of charge, and open to all.

This workshop aims to demystify AI and explore its transformative potential for sustainable development. This interactive experience will equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and connections necessary to become a driving force in the responsible application of AI technologies. Participants will engage in hands-on exercises and group discussions to navigate ethical considerations and best practices, while expert-led microsessions will showcase AI applications in health care, education, agriculture, and climate action. Through compelling case studies from low-income countries, this workshop will highlight both the challenges as well as the successes of implementing AI in resource-constrained settings. By the end of the workshop, the participants will be empowered to advocate for and implement inclusive AI solutions, contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Moderated by members of the UNITAR Division for Prosperity Advisory Board, both panel discussions will include academic stalwarts from renowned universities, notable dignitaries from the private sector, and experts from international organizations.
