As part of an ongoing commitment to achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls, UNITAR has partnered with the Premier League, Premier League Charitable Foundation and Sport Relief to create ‘Changemakers,’ a leadership and empowerment programme for self-identifying young women and girls aged 11 - 18. Changemakers aims to empower, inspire and develop personal skills and positive attitudes for leadership by using the power of football, sports and movement.
As a key milestone, UNITAR developed a bespoke leadership package to be delivered on the programme which is currently being rolled out across England and Wales in the United Kingdom to over one thousand young women and girls. The leadership course covers mental health, confidence, resilience, teamwork with the goal of building up the next generation of women leaders. As a part of this, UNITAR also designed, developed and delivered two Training of Trainers courses to provide the coaches delivering the leadership programme with the relevant skills, knowledge and support needed to effectively do so.
In a world where women’s sport is still not bestowed with the respect and attention given to the men’s game and where diverse and unique groups of leaders are so desperately needed, UNITAR is leveraging its position as an internationally recognised capacity building institution by joining forces with the Premier League, a global leader in the sporting arena and working in partnership to elevate and make way for the next generation of women leaders.
