September 2021 - Crowd4SDG Consortium has launched the second GEAR Cycle of the project. This year the project aims to address two Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – Goal 13 on Climate Change and Goal 5 on Gender Equality. With its launch, it calls for projects that will aim to tackle climate change and gender challenges with crowdsourcing solutions. This is an open challenge competition that uses crowdsourcing as a way to gather information or stimulate actions taken by large numbers of ordinary citizens. Individuals or teams can propose projects at the scale of a community, a region, a country or the entire world.
Once the project is selected, teams will receive advanced coaching through an innovative programme that aims at creating prototypes to validate the feasibility of the solutions proposed and attract social investments. We also offer state-of-the-art AI and machine learning tools to power crowdsourcing activities.
Crowd4SDG is an EU-funded research project exploring how citizen science can track progress towards the SDGs and how grassroots innovation can help achieve such progress. Strategic Implementation of the 2030 Agenda Unit of UNITAR is a member of the consortium along with the University of Geneva, European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Politecnico di Milano, and the Université de Paris-CRI.
The deadline for the applications is 30 September 2021, midnight CEST.
