15 September 2021 - The Confederation of African Football (CAF), the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) and UNITAR’s International Training Centres for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL Global Network) jointly announced the launch of the first UNITAR-certified Sport Safety and Security Training and Advanced Education Programme for professionals in Africa.
The launch took place in the presence of over 200 safety and security professionals from African football federations, leagues, and clubs, as well as high-level representatives from the United Nations and FIFA.

When Mr.Imtiaz Sharifi participated in the UNITAR Executive Master’s in Development Policies and Practices in 2014, he was the Director of the Value-Added Tax Section of the Revenue General Department in the Ministry of Finance of Afghanistan, who had been working to develop policies and practices for the Ministry.
Following the success of the first edition of the Masters programem in 2013, UNITAR received many applications for the second edition, Mr. Sharifi was one of the 17 high-level officials from Afghan Government chosen to participate in degree programme.

UNITAR organizes training in the form of workshops, seminars and fellowships where participants, mostly professionals from developing countries, learn from each other and share their experiences and the common issues they are facing. This can be done through face-to-face events as well as online courses.
UNITAR conducts its activities all over the world. Depending on the type of event, training activities can be organized in-country at strategic locations or through e-learning sessions. Many activities conducted under the Social Development Programme are organized through the CIFAL Global network, a network of affiliated training centres.
