29 October 2013, Geneva, Switzerland - Heavy rainfall since September 2013 has provoked important flooding in Cambodia, affecting especially north-west and south-east provinces. In 20 provinces damage has been extensive. The country has 24 provinces in total. According to national sources 168 people have been killed and almost 145,000 have been evacuated as of this week. 20 September 2012 - Building on a decade of success in making satellite data available to users for disaster response, the International Charter Space and Major Disasters is now opening its doors even wider. To do this, the Charter has adopted the principle of Universal Access: any national disaster management authority will be able to submit requests to the Charter for emergency disaster response. Proper procedures will have to be followed, but the affected country will not have to be a Charter member.

From the 23rd to the 25th of June 2010, the first workshop in Europe under the global Territorial Approach to Climate Change (TACC) Initiative took place in Tirana, Albania. The event brought together 25 participants from regional authorities and from national government in Albania. It was supported by UNEP within the context of the TACC initiative, a collaboration of UNDP, UNEP, UNITAR and UNHABITAT.
