Nearly 20 diplomats and government officials from Asian countries completed the UNITAR Hiroshima Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Training Programme, held 13-18 February 2023. The diplomats updated their understanding of the global nuclear debate and met young activists to learn about their initiatives for a nuclear-free world. The programme’s past two cycles were run virtually due to COVID-19-related restrictions. Learning about nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation in the symbolic city of Hiroshima offered participants a deep learning experience.

“Heavy rains in Colombia have affected close to 2 million persons”, the country's president Juan Manuel Santos said on Sunday after inspecting floods in the northern “Atlantico department”.

On 11 – 16 September, Armenian authorities in collaboration with NATO and the international humanitarian community carried out a major exercise based on an earthquake scenario simulation. The drill featured a scenario with a simulated 7.2 Richter Scale quake in the Kotayk region in the Republic of Armenia. This included both real field deployment and a virtual command and coordination set up.
