International Day of Sport for Development and Peace Campaign
In the lead-up to Expo 2025 Osaka and to mark the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP), we’re launching a global campaign to spotlight the transformative role of sport in driving positive change – together with athletes, organizations, and changemakers from around the world. If you are an individual (athlete, coach, etc.) or organization (organization, National Federation, NGO, company, etc.) working in the field of development or peace through sport, we encourage you to create a short video introducing the activities you are involved in and post it on social media with the hashtags #IDSDP2025 and #Expo2025Osaka.
Selected submissions will be edited into a collective video campaign which will be showcased online and at the Expo, raising awareness of the power of sports in promoting peace. The video submission campaign period is March 19th 2025 - May 4th 2025.
Examples of activities aimed at solving social issues:
- Poverty reduction and disaster recovery support (e.g. rebuilding communities in disaster-hit areas through sports activities)
- Climate change countermeasures (e.g., raising environmental awareness through sporting events)
- Human rights issues and social inclusion (e.g., correcting gender inequality through sports, promoting social participation of people with disabilities)
- Education and vocational training (e.g. acquiring life skills through sports)
- Regional revitalization through sports (e.g., collaboration with sports organizations, local communities, and citizens)
For full video requirements, please visit the Japan Sports Council Campaign page here.
*Those who submit a campaign video by April 13th are eligible to apply to the Expo Ticket Giveaway. See the above link for more information.
