UNITAR

As the past year has shown us, the new coronavirus pandemic is having unprecedented impacts across the globe, especially on human health and economic activities. In this context, Governments are intensifying their efforts to combat the global spread of COVID-19 by enacting various measures to support public health systems, safeguard the economy and to ensure public order and safety. Likewise, entrepreneurs have looked for creative solutions to keep their activities afloat, addressing different challenges they are experiencing. The downturn in the global economy following this huge sanitary and health crisis represents unprecedented challenges but will provide opportunities as well.

In line with the SDG Action Campaign, UNITAR’s Division for People and Social Inclusion and UNCTAD have partnered to create a blended learning experience, including a knowledge hub, e-learning courses in English, French, Spanish and Arabic, as well as a complete webinar series, to strengthen the capacity and resilience of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in developing countries and economies in transition to mitigate the economic and social impact of the global Covid-19 crisis. This complete capacity building program for MSMEs development and entrepreneurship aims to contribute to the implementation of the entire Agenda 2030, by targeting the following 7 Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 1: End Poverty, SDG 4: Quality education, SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
