Background

In September 2015, the United Nations Assembly unanimously agreed to adopt a global action plan to combat the major challenges facing humanity: climate change, inequalities, etc. This strategy is the 2030 Agenda and sets out 17 goals that form the roadmap for global sustainable development.

This strategy is the 2030 Agenda and raises 17 goals that make up the roadmap for global sustainable development. In this context of the current crisis, these goals are more relevant than ever, as is reflected by ICOM in the new definition of museum, approved by the General Conference of ICOM, and which defines a museum as" A museum is a non-profit institution, permanent and at the service of society, which researches, collects, preserves, interprets and exhibits tangible and intangible heritage..."

This definition is a statement about the role museums have come to play in our present while maintaining their core missions, transforming their practices to establish a dialogue between cultures, build bridges for a peaceful world and define a sustainable future.
