04 October 2013, Geneva, Switzerland - As Security Council agrees on efforts to increase access by humanitarian organisations to people in need , UNOSAT continues to monitor several refugee camps outside Syria and some key locations within Syria where IDPs are concentrated.

3 October, Nairobi, Kenya - The capacity development programme being implemented by UNOSAT for the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has just entered a new phase oafter the succefful completion of the third round of face-to-face training that took place in Nairobi from 9 to 20 September. The training was hosted in the premises of the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD).

2 October 2013, Geneva, Switzerland - It took only minutes after the first seismic shock that hit the Pakistani province of Baluchistan in the afternoon of 24 September for experts to understand that this emergency would require the mobilization of humanitarian assistance.

24 September 2013, Geneva, Switzerland - During an information session for government delegates to the United Nations organised by OCHA at the Palais des Nations, UNOSAT was unanimously commended for its work in providing the humanitarian community at large with satellite imagery analysis and near-real time rapid mapping.

11-13 September 2013 Geneva, Switzerland – UNOSAT and the European Commission Joint Research Centre partnered to co-organize a workshop on Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) for Rapid Mapping. The event successfully brought together members of industry, academia and humanitarian actors to explore the technology´s readiness for rapid mapping and other civilian applications.

12 September 2013, St. Ann, Jamaica - A “Workshop for the Caribbean Region Countries on the GHS (Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling)” took place from 3-5 September 2013 in, Runaway Bay, St. Ann, Jamaica. The workshop was attended by 13 Governments from the region and provided a platform for awareness raising on GHS and for countries to share their experiences with GHS implementation.
