18 September 2020, Geneva, Switzerland - On 21 September 2020, the University Global Coalition, in partnership with the United Nations, through UNITAR’s support and guidance, will host its first virtual gathering, after its successful launch in 2019. In light of the challenges brought by the recent crisis to implement and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this year’s gathering will focus on the following topic: The Role of Universities in Achieving the SDGs in the New Context: Building Back; Building Bridges.
The community of the University Global Coalition, represented by universities and higher academic institutions from around the world, will share and exchange through plenaries and interactive sessions. University deans, sustainability directors, students, and professors from diverse institutions, will provide voluntary reviews and will share projects and initiatives that utilize the SDGs to transform their research, teaching, and operations.
Her excellency UN Deputy Secretary-General, Amina J. Mohammed, will mark the opening of the 2020 University Global Coalition virtual conference, delivering a keynote speech.
The conference is open to the public. Registrations to the event are free and open to those who wish to attend or extend the invitation to their network.
