Spanish has become a priority language as regards the e-learning courses that UNITAR is offering to officials and professionals from developing countries and economies in transition. This year, the Public Finance and Trade programme will again offer a series of online courses in partnership with leading universities and training institutes in Latin America and Spain. These courses are designed to enhance the professional skills of public and private sector participants, and to promote the sharing of knowledge and experiences through UNITAR’s Virtual Learning Environment.
UNITAR and Instituto de Estudios de las Finanzas Públicas Argentinas (IEFPA), Fundación Escuela Superior de Economía y Administración de Empresas (ESEADE), Universidad Austral (Buenos Aires) and Universitat de Barcelona (Spain) have joined forces to offer greater learning and networking opportunities to more Spanish speaking professionals and officials, no matter where they are and when they can connect to the Internet.
The courses will address priority themes in the areas of policy, financial governance, trade and intellectual property and are aimed at government officials and private sector representatives, civil society and academics in the most flexible, extensive and comprehensive ways possible. Senior Spanish speaking experts who have in-depth understanding of current challenges and issues in their areas of specialisation will mentor the course participants.
Over 10,000 finance and trade officials and professionals mainly from developing countries and economies in transition have taken UNITAR online courses since 2003. This demonstrates the need of professionals in the financial, trade and academic sector for practical and flexible short duration training programmes, as well as the comparative advantages of UNITAR’s innovative e-learning methodology.
Below are some comments received from a participant in a recent e-Learning course:
“It was a pleasure for me to take this course from which I learned more and which will help in my future negotiations. I hope to have the opportunity to take another course with UNITAR and with you (the Mentor) given that the course theme and methodology make learning easy.”
Ms. Beatriz Rodriguez, Consulate General of Mexico in Atlanta (USA)
