UNITAR Launches International Relations and Global Diplomacy Programme
16 June 2017, New York, U.S.A - The United Nations Institute of Training and Research organized the launch of a new certification programme alongside with Collegiate Congress titled International Relations and Global Policy that has been designed for students who are currently pursuing political science, international relations, global studies, or other related programmes in their senior year of undergraduate, or any graduate programme. This programme is consisted of 14 weeks, where students are able to gain real world experience through courses taught by UN Diplomats, Consulate Generals, and Delegates. Moreover, this experience will include attendance in the General Assembly sessions and UN Initiatives, not only will this be a great learning experience but an empowering because we are educating the diplomats and future leaders of tomorrow.
The event started with introductory remarks from Mr. Marco A. Suazo who is the Head of UNITAR New York Office and followed several remarks from Commissioner Penny Abeywardena, Councilwoman Inez Barron, Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez, Dr. Jean Krasno from the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership and the Chairman of Collegiate Congress Christo Thomas. The course focused on several aspects of International Relations and Global Policy and each of the panellists had emphasised how each component of the curriculum is essential on a range of levels starting at the community level.
The course concluded with closing remarks from all the panellists who engaged in a questions and answers session with the student participants.
