22 June 2026, Seoul, Republic of Korea - As artificial intelligence and frontier technologies continue to reshape education, work and global development, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), and Seoul National University (SNU) have opened discussions on potential collaboration to strengthen future-oriented skills among students and young professionals.

Ms. Mihoko Kumamoto, Director of the Division for Prosperity at UNITAR, met with Mr. Min-ho Song, Director of the AI Media Content Office at Seoul National University, to exchange ideas on possible areas of cooperation. The meeting explored how UNITAR and SNU could work together to create learning opportunities that connect academic knowledge with the skills required for future economies and societies.

Potential areas of collaboration discussed included UNITAR study tours hosted at SNU, immersion programmes for Korean students, and the joint development of courses on artificial intelligence, frontier technologies and related skills.

The discussions align with UNITAR’s work to strengthen individual and institutional capacities through learning solutions that respond to emerging global challenges. They also reflect the growing need to prepare learners to engage with technological change in ways that are responsible, inclusive and connected to sustainable development.

As a next step, UNITAR and SNU will continue exploring concrete formats for collaboration, including possible programme models, areas of technical focus and opportunities for knowledge exchange.

About the AI Media Content Office at Seoul National University

Established in May 2024, the AI Media Content Office at Seoul National University promotes AI-enabled education and conducts research on AI-integrated media content. The Office develops and delivers educational programs that foster AI literacy and practical AI competencies, while supporting the creation of innovative content across various media formats. It also organizes the Seoul National University AI Film Festival, providing a platform for exploring the creative and societal impacts of artificial intelligence through filmmaking and digital storytelling.
