8 July 2024, Shanghai, China - UNITAR and Cushman & Wakefield signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on 20 June 2024, setting the foundation for a strategic partnership aimed at exploring and advancing mutual areas of interest. Director of UNITAR Division for Prosperity Ms. Mihoko Kumamoto and Chief Executive Officer of Greater China at Cushman & Wakefield Mr. Jinquan Zhao took part in the signing ceremony, underscoring the high level of commitment from both parties.
Under this MOU, UNITAR and Cushman & Wakefield have identified several key thematic areas where collaboration can be pursued. These include
- business facilitation: enhancing the ease of conducting business and promoting trade through innovative strategies and frameworks
- environmental, social, and governance (ESG) development and sustainability: advancing ESG standards to promote sustainable development practices across sectors
- international communication: strengthening global communication channels to foster better understanding and cooperation among international stakeholders
- Leadership and empowerment: empowering individuals and organizations with the leadership skills necessary to drive positive change.
Ms. Kumamoto expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, stating,
This collaboration will help to raise awareness and build capabilities around the UN [Sustainable Development Goals], ensuring that more individuals and organizations are equipped to contribute to these global goals.”
Mr. Zhao commented,

The thematic areas outlined in the MOU will serve as a starting point for developing initiatives and projects.
