17 October 2012, Lodz, Poland - From 15-16 October 2012, UNITAR participated at the conference on "Safe NANO Innovations" regarding safety of nanomaterials. Along with national participants from government, academia, NGOs, the European Commission, European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) and others, UNITAR presented its experience with regional and global awareness raising, national nano pilot projects, and the need to continue to discuss issues related to nanotechnology and manufactured nanomaterials in the context of the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM).
