UNITAR

Thursday 7 July 2022, New York, USA – The Executive Director of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), Mr. Mikhil Seth, visited New York City during the week of the 2022 High-level Political Forum (HLPF). Mr. Seth met with several department officials, exchanged opinions, and discussed the work on capacity training for achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

On Tuesday, 5 July, Mr. Seth moderated the HLPF Townhall meeting held at the UN General Assembly Hall to discuss ways to build back better and advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He expressed his confidence in Member States’ determination to achieving the SDGs, as well as his belief that access to educational resources and emphasis on knowledge sharing are vital for recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the next day, Mr. Seth met with Dr. Bernhard Lennartz, the Director of the Division of Health Care Management and Occupational Safety and Health (DHMOSH).

The reality of unequal distribution of public health resources results in developing countries’ constant struggles. To fulfill the promise of leaving no one behind, both UNITAR and the DHMOSH commit to promoting public health, and firmly believe that the advance in public health is the cornerstone for implementing the 2030 Agenda.

Lastly, Mr. Seth participated in Thursday’s HLPF session on "Working towards the 2023 SDG Summit" as the moderator.
