Memorandum of Understanding signed with Zayed University of the United Arab Emirates

11 June 2015, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) has recently signed a three year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zayed University (ZU). This partnership will reinforce the excellent cooperation between these Institutes and will reaffirm the common commitment to efficient and effective diplomacy. The overall goal of the MoU aims at strengthening the capacities of the university and its students in the field of multilateral diplomacy and international affairs.  

Zayed University is the leading academic institution in the United Arab Emirates with more than 10,000 students enrolled in 2014. It provides top quality educational services to students from all over the world and is the first university in the Gulf region to sign such an agreement with UNITAR.

Both institutions will work hand in hand by implementing a series of seminars on global challenges, an international conference on multilateral negotiation tracks, high-level lectures and study visits, all of which will give practical training skills to ZU students to pursue traineeships within the United Nations System.

The signing ceremony saw the presence of several high ranking members of the university, including: Professor Riyadh Al Muhaideb, Vice-President, Dr. Marilyn Roberts, Acting ZU Provost, Dr. Abdel Mohsen Onsy, Associate Provost and Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Ibrahim Souss, Professor and Executive Director of the Office for Global Governance and Research Studies and Dr. Christopher Southgate, Dean of the College of Sustainability, Sciences and Humanities.
