UNITAR considers climate change to be a major challenge for humanity. Therefore, participating to the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen was a priority for the Institute and a great opportunity to show its presence as well as raising awareness on activities for a positive impact on the environment.
During the two weeks of COP15, all eyes were focused on the environment and on the negotiations taking place at the conference. Governments, NGOs and civil society were among the present stakeholders at COP15. UNITAR did not play a small part in when reflecting on all the side events that took place.

The Institute has been very active during the whole two weeks of COP15 and organized side events that brought together more than 880 participants in total. UNITAR organized and participated to events such as:
- C3D+ Project Management Committee Meeting,
- Climate Change Capacity Development,
- Public Participation in Climate Change Governance,
- Cities and Climate Change,
- Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers and Climate Change,
- CC:Learn IseeT Event.
