CIFAL Shanghai hosted the XII Smart City Public Lecture “Smart City and Food Safety”
2 March 2015, Shanghai, China – CIFAL Shanghai hosted the XII Smart City Public Lecture “Smart City and Food Safety” at Shanghai Sciences Hall on 4 February 2015. This one-day lecture focused on the informatization of food safety management, bringing together 69 participants from different industries.
This event is part of a series of Smart City Public Lectures aimed at raising awareness about smart city development. The series of lectures serve as a unique platform to exchange ideas and experiences as well as to network and identify for business and cooperation opportunities.
Notable Doctor LI Jie, Team leader of the Law Enforcement Team of Shanghai Food and Drug Administration presented on the current food safety situation, the main issues and strategies of food safety, and the key requirements in Smart City Shanghai. Specific aspects discussed during the lecture included how to promote the sharing of information about the licensing, supervision and administration of the food industry, how to build data bases for food safety, and how to encourage the public to participate in the supervision of food safety, among others.
In the past years, various food safety issues such as fast-growing chicken, milk powder and illegal cooking oil surfaced, calling the attention from the Chinese society and government officials. With the joint efforts of the central government, local government, media and society, the food safety problems have been largely ameliorated in Shanghai.
The Shanghai municipal government will soon adhere to the 15 Key Strategies to promote the informatization of food safety management, accelerate the sharing of information about food safety permits and supervision, build a database for food safety facilitated by technologies, and encourage the public to push for food safety.
The Smart City Public Lecture XII was implemented in partnership with the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization; Shanghai Association for Science & Technology; Shanghai Smart City Promotion Center; Shanghai Science Hall; Fudan University; Shanghai Intelligent Park Development Promotion Association; Shanghai Software Industry Association; and Shanghai East China Telecommunications Research Institute.
Through this series of monthly public lectures, a wide number of participants have gained an increased awareness of Smart City development.
