9 September 2026, Curitiba, Brazil – CIFAL Curitiba delivered 156 initiatives reaching 1,872 participants in 2025, according to its newly published Annual Report of Activities. The report highlights the Centre’s work across economic and social development, sustainability and governance, including programmes promoting migrant inclusion, advancing women’s entrepreneurship and fostering responsible business practices.
A Centre Rooted in Industry, Oriented Toward the Future
CIFAL Curitiba
Established in 2003 through a partnership between UNITAR and the Municipality of Curitiba, through the Instituto de Pesquisa e Planejamento Urbano de Curitiba (IPPUC), CIFAL Curitiba was founded in a city internationally recognized for its best practices in urban planning and sustainable development. In 2009, the centre relocated to the Fiep System, the Federation of Industries of the State of Paraná. A move that anchored its work in the productive sector and gave it access to one of the country's most dynamic industrial ecosystems. More than two decades on, that strategic positioning continues to define what makes CIFAL Curitiba distinctive within the CIFAL Global Network: its capacity to engage with industry as an embedded partner, bringing the UN system's frameworks and standards into direct dialogue with the organizations, leaders, and workers who drive Paraná's economic life.
CIFAL Curitiba's 2025 programming was structured around three strategic axes: Economic and Social Development, Sustainability, and Governance. These axes aimed to foster inclusive economic growth, responsible industrial practices aligned with the SDGs, and transparent, ethical management across sectors.
Migration, ESG, and Business Innovation for Sustainable Development

In 2025, reaching 1872 beneficiaries through 156 initiatives, CIFAL Curitiba advanced a comprehensive portfolio of capacity-building initiatives aligned with the UN 2030 Agenda, with particular focus on the intersection of migration, ESG integration, entrepreneurship, and business-driven sustainable development. In the area of migration and social inclusion, the centre delivered the Indústria Acolhedora programme across multiple municipalities in Paraná, equipping Human Resources professionals with intercultural communication and inclusive recruitment competencies, and supported the Reconhecimento do Selo SESI Indústria Parceira do Migrante, recognizing industries that champion the socioeconomic integration of migrants and refugees.
On the ESG and private sector sustainability front, the Jornada Sesi ESG engaged Paraná industries in structured mentoring journeys that translated environmental, social, and governance commitments into measurable operational change, while the Congresso SESI ODS 2025 convened industry, government, civil society, and international organizations in a structured multi-stakeholder dialogue on SDG-aligned business practices. Complementing these efforts, the Trilha do Empoderamento advanced women's economic empowerment and entrepreneurship among vulnerable populations, and the Preparação Futuro Longevo programme reached professionals with training on workforce resilience, financial autonomy, and career development, reinforcing CIFAL Curitiba's role as a strategic platform for building the human and institutional capacities that sustainable and inclusive economic development demands.
A Reference Centre for Paraná and Beyond
Taken together, the initiatives implemented throughout 2025 evidence CIFAL Curitiba's role as a reference centre for sustainable development promotion, for the formation of leaders and for the strengthening of strategic partnerships, contributing to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in the state of Paraná and to the strengthening of the CIFAL Global Network.
This work is supported by UNITAR and the CIFAL Global Network, which continues to strengthen CIFAL Curitiba's capacity as a hub for sustainable development, ESG leadership, and social inclusion across Latin America and Portuguese-speaking countries. Through partnerships like those built with international organizations, civil society, and municipal governments across Paraná, the CGN reaffirms that the path to the 2030 Agenda runs not only through global commitments, but through the daily, deliberate, and deeply local work of institutions like CIFAL Curitiba, committed to making sustainability real, inclusive, and lasting.
