Background and objectives
Today, global motor vehicle fleets, including passenger and commercial vehicles, exceed 2 billion and are projected to reach 3.5 billion by 2030. Small to midsize fleets account for approximately 88 per cent of all commercial fleets on the road. In alignment with the Global Plan of the Decade of Action for Road Safety and UN SDG target 3.6 to reduce road traffic fatalities and injuries by 50 per cent by 2030, the programme seeks to contribute, through knowledge and capacity-building, to prevent road-related fatalities.
The regional training workshop is part of UNITAR ‘Fleet Safety Global Training Programme’, implemented in partnership with Together for Safer Roads, bringing best practices from the largest public and private sector fleets, along with leading road safety technology companies, with the goal of empowering fleet safety leaders to strengthen safety systems and build a culture of safety in their organizations.
