Programme Overview
Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) are the primary legal instruments for addressing global and transboundary environmental challenges. Today, States—especially least-developed and developing countries—face significant obstacles in implementing more than 300 MEAs due to technical, financial and human resource constraints.
UNITAR’s International Environmental Law (IEL) Self-Paced Course provides a foundational and practice-oriented introduction to IEL, covering its sources, principles, actors, law-making processes, and implementation mechanisms. The programme equips participants with the knowledge required to understand, interpret and apply MEAs in national and international contexts.
