15–18 December 2026 | Nairobi, Kenya
Africa's Green Capital: A Global Stage for Youth Climate Action
Nairobi is the only capital city on Earth built around a national park, and home to the headquarters of the United Nations Environment Programme. This December, it becomes the meeting ground for young changemakers, policymakers, innovators, and environmental experts from every region of the world at the Nairobi Youth Summit on Environment 2026.
Carrying forward Kenya's own legacy of grassroots environmental action, from the Green Belt Movement's reforestation drives to community-led conservancies across the Rift Valley, the summit is built on a simple conviction: that lasting solutions to the planet's environmental crises will come from young people closest to the land, the coastlines, and the cities most affected by climate change. Over four days, delegates will exchange ideas, build partnerships, and co-create practical, scalable solutions for a more sustainable and just future.
Thematic Areas of the Summit
• Climate Action & Resilience - Youth-driven solutions for adapting to and mitigating the climate crisis, from drought-prone drylands to rising coastlines.
• Biodiversity & Nature-Based Solutions - Protecting ecosystems and wildlife corridors, and scaling up nature-based approaches to environmental restoration.
• Green Innovation & Circular Economy - Using technology, entrepreneurship, and circular design to turn environmental challenges into economic opportunity.
• Environmental Leadership & Advocacy - Building youth leaders who can hold institutions accountable and shape environmental policy, inclusively and equitably.
• Youth Participation in Environmental Governance - Strengthening youth voices in decision-making, from city hall to the UN Environment Assembly.
