March 2020, Geneva, Switzerland - UNITAR’s mission is focused on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aim to “transform our world.” In that regard, UNITAR’s Multilateral Diplomacy Programme Unit (MPDU) is proud to announce the launch of three new degrees. As a result, the MDPU launches the Master of Arts in Development Studies and Diplomacy and the Online Certificate in Development Studies and Diplomacy, in partnership with the University for Peace (UPEACE) and the Executive Diploma in Business Leadership and International Affairs, in partnership with the INCAE Business School.

The “Master of Arts in Development Studies and Diplomacy” is an interdisciplinary and holistic programme that will broaden the student’s knowledge in the field of development studies, sustainability, and diplomacy. It will also equip them with the required soft skills for a successful international career in any of the areas of expertise. It is offered both online and face-to-face at the UPEACE campus in Costa Rica. During the programme, the students will analyse the different dimensions of development. Specifically, they will examine the environmental, social, economic, and human dimensions as well as the theory and practice of diplomacy in the 21st century.

Students can also opt for a shorter qualification by applying for the “UNITAR – UPEACE Online Certificate in Development Studies and Diplomacy.

The “UNITAR - INCAE Executive Diploma in Business Leadership and International Affairs” will provide leaders across all sectors with the essential tools needed to cooperatively solve complex challenges at the international, national, regional, and local level. Upon successful completion of the programme, students should have an in-depth understanding of the current international political and socio-economic landscape.
