
Mr. Gianpiero Leoncini, is the Executive Vice President of CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, a role he has held since July 2024. As the most senior international officer of the Bank after the Executive President, he is responsible for the institution’s internal operational management, including planning, budgeting, operations control, impact measurement, human capital, technology, physical infrastructure, administration, and corporate strategy monitoring. A Peruvian national, Mr. Leoncini has dedicated over 15 years of his career to CAF. He has held senior positions including Principal Executive and Senior Executive of the Secretariat and External Relations Department; Director of Secretariat and External Relations; Country Representative for Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados; and Chief Advisor to the Executive Vice President. In these roles, he contributed to strengthening CAF’s presence and partnerships across the region, advancing its development mandate, and ensuring effective coordination with member countries and partners. Before joining CAF, he served as Chief of Staff to the Secretary General of the Andean Community and as an Officer in the Directorate of Political and Social Affairs at its General Secretariat. Throughout his career, he has focused on regional integration, multilateral cooperation, and sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean. Mr. Leoncini holds a degree in political science with a specialization in international relations from the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po) and a master’s degree in public administration from the National School of Administration (ENA) in France.
